Brent Benson is a physicist turned sailmaker who designs and builds fast
sails using a combination of aerodynamics, three-dimensional
geometry/trigonometry, experimental methods with on-the-water testing, in
combination with an innovative photography system.
He makes fine sails for a variety of boat types up to 28 feet
including:
- One-design racing sails
- Advanced aerodynamic design and durable construction
- Gaff, lug, Gunter, sprit, lateen, etc., rig sails for traditional and
sailor-built boats
- Fast sail shape for traditional craft, made from a variety of cloth
types
- Cruising sails
- Designed for speed, safety, durability and ease of handling
- Recuts, adjustments and repairs for all sails
- Racing and cruising lifetimes can often be extended by a timely recut,
and even new sails from other lofts may need adjustments for optimum speed
